For many of our hosts, access to a lot of space provides a world of opportunity. But it can be stressful if you are unsure of how to utilize it. With so much space at your disposal, how can you maximize the space’s value?
Split it up!
We realized a long time that your big garage or basement won’t always fit the needs of everyone. The person with the couch or a few boxes doesn’t need all the space you can offer. So on the NXTSTOR app, we give you the option to split up your massive space. Just find a good way to mark the area you’re splitting up- whether that be taped off areas or small barriers. We’ve seen rents on spaces go up by nearly one and a half times for essentially leasing the same spaces.
Cages- They Aren’t Just for Cats or Dogs
Cages allow you to easily create subdivided units at your home or office. They come in a multitude of sizes and can easily fit your budget. They also allow your renters’ things to be kept locked up- which can increase the rental price by 25%. Some great places to check them out are Cisco-Eagle and McMaster-Carr.
One of the easiest things you can do to maximize space and potentially help renters is to create shelf space. This gets items off the floor and allows items in containers to be neatly stored. It also gives the opportunity to rent the containers themselves as mini storage units. These are especially beneficial for people getting seasonal clothing out of their homes or those that need a place to safely store knick-knacks. Here’s an awesome guide we found on how to build them cheaply.
Feature Rich Environment
We all love perks! On NXTSTOR, renters appreciate the extra benefits you give them in the space. Let’s dive into our favorites.
Everyone wants to know their stuff is covered and is being closely watched. Putting in a security system like a Ring or a Nest can give your renters the peace of mind they need to feel secure dropping off their stuff.
For anytime access, guests have come to expect a locked environment for them to easily access. But many standard renters love to see that a space is able to be locked or has a keypad locking system. It helps them feel protected from theft or unwanted tampering.
Well lit, well-loved space
People want to store items in places with clean environments and with easy access. Part of that access is the ability to see the space and your items in it- therefore providing a bright space is a necessity. We suggest placing bright LED lights in the space you are offering for rent. Renters are also far more likely to rent spaces they can tell they are clean from the picture. This means ensuring a swept area that doesn’t show any damage on the walls or floor.
We gave everyone the ability to write a bit extra in their post. Use it to your advantage! What can you do to make sure this is the best experience for the renter. Will you pick up their stuff for them? Do you have boxes to help them out? Going out of your way will always help to make sure the experience is great for all parties involved.
